Crime stats reveal correlation between increase in crime in KZN and nationally

The Institute for Security Studies says there appears to be a correlation between crime stats at national level and for KZN.
The institute has been analysing the crime stats released by the police ministry today.
It says murder, violence and organised crime remain a huge problem.
The murder rate has gone up 3.1 % in KZN while hijackings have seen an increase of nearly 14% since the last financial year.
Sexual offence crimes have taken a dip nationally with KZN seeing a 1.5% decline in this category of crimes.
The institute's Lizette Lancaster says the correlation is not surprising.
The institute also released detailed infographics for each crime category. (See below)
