Cream of the crop, KZN's top 10 matriculants
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
The Pinetown District has produced the top-performing learner in the province for the Class of 2020.
17-year-old Colombe Cynthia Obono Eyono from Westville Girls High School claimed the top spot this year.
In total the Pinetown District claimed six of the ten positions - Umlazi and Umzinyathi claimed the other spots respectively.
Obono Eyono says she’ll be heading to Harvard University in the United States to pursue her tertiary career.
She says it wasn’t an easy journey achieving the spot. " I think to make your mental health a priority because when your health is not in shape, nothing else will come into place.
"I dealt with a lot of stress and anxiety as I think most people did. I had to bring myself to the centre and resort to meditation to get through it. I will have to tribute that to my success, focusing on mental health," she said.
The other top 10 learners are:
2. Shaheen Govender - Westville Boys’ High.
3. Jordane Hannah Vartharajulu - Southlands Secondary School, Chatsworth.
4. Dipika Somaroo - Effingham Secondary School
5. Sanam Maharaj - Greenbury Secondary School
Hemal Niranjan Harkhu - Westville Boys’ High.
6. Vanam Ramessur - Umkomaas Secondary School
Shreya Nair - Danville Girls’ High
7. Kiarin Naidoo - Westville Boys’ High
8. Akshar Kanaye - Greytown Secondary School
Kiash Nadasen Baldeo - Seatides Combined School.
