Covid jab for 12-17 cohort to open next week: Phaahla
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Minister of Health Joe Phaahla has confirmed that vaccinations will be opened to those between the ages of 12 to 17-year-olds.

They will be able to get their jab from 20 October as government steps up its vaccination drive.
Phaahla made the remarks during a virtual briefing on Friday where he addressed media on government efforts in the fight against Covid-19 and the national vaccination rollout programme.
"This follows a recommendation which we received from our ministerial advisory committee on vaccination.
"This recommendation was also supported by Health MECs when we met on Tuesday afternoon on our statutory national health council and this was also supported by Cabinet the following day."
He says the service will start on 20 October to allow the necessary preparation on the EVDS registration system.
"We believe this will come handy as schools start their examinations, some of the are already advanced towards concluding their academic year and are starting to prepare for the next academic year of 2022."
