COVID-19: Tragedy strikes again at PMB home for the aged

The Aryan Benevolent Home for the Aged in Pietermaritzburg is mourning the death of another resident who succumbed to COVID-19.

She was an 82-year-old grandmother.
Twelve people at the facility lost their lives in two months - eight of them had contracted coronavirus.
The Home's Dev Naidoo says at the start of the lockdown they were taking care of 32 residents.

He says it's been a traumatic time for them all:
"The situation has an impact on the other residents in terms of the fact that they became one family unit and with the passing of the 13 people, they became very reserved and it was traumatic for them.
"I can say that right now the situation is improving, they are becoming a bit more relaxed.
"The general public have been very supportive in that we've had a psychologist that has been visiting the residents in order to do counselling," says Naidoo.
