Covid-19 test positivity lowest since May 2020
South Africa reached a milestone after the Covid-19 positivity rate dropped to a level last seen in May 2020.
The country’s Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped to 2.7%.
Scientist Ridhwaan Suliman says the figure is at its lowest since May 2020.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says there were 768 new Covid-19 infections reported in the past 24 hours.
A further 103 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of fatalities to 87 922.
KwaZulu-Natal is leading with 193 new infections, followed by Western Cape with 151 new cases.
There has been an increase of 110 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
There are 6 036 people currently admitted for treatment in both private and public facilities.
This while 197 698 Covid-19 vaccines were administered in the reporting cycle.
