There have been reservations from unions, including Congress of South African Students (COSAS) who has called on the  Department to delay the opening.

But this KZN parent says she has no problem sending her children back to school.

Bluff mom of three,  Kim Bowes says she trusts her children who are all in high school - to practise the safety measures she has taught them.

"All my children attended school last year and the schools were more than prepared and took great care of them. I feel that it is unfair to deprive them of completing a whole year of school when no one really knows how long the virus will be around for."

Her daughter, Kayla who is in Grade 12 this year says she is excited but also has concerns.

"I am concerned about the COVID-19 regulations and whether this year will be run better than last year, I feel that if us, as pupils worked together to protect ourselves as well as others during this pandemic we are able to have a very prosperous year," she said.

This Amanzimtoti parent of four school-goers, Bongi Mthembu says she will be sending them back to school. "If they follow last year's regime, where certain classes attended on certain days, it should work. It worked last year."
