Coupled with Thursday's recorded figure of 2 156 cases it now means SA has seen more than 4 000 new cases in a space of just 2 days. This now takes our official case tally to 712 412.

The new figures come as concerns grow about a second wave to hit the country as most conditions have been relaxed under Lockdown Level 1.

A provincial rundown shows provinces leading are Gauteng with 226 695 cases, KZN 121 970 cases and Western Cape with 115 538 confirmed cases.

Our recovery rate has remained at a steady 90%.
