COVID-19: SA records highest number of deaths in 24-hour period

18 558 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in our country in the past hours.

This takes our total number of positive cases to 1 278 303.
There's also been an increase in the number of lives claimed by the virus meaning our total death toll stands at 35 140.

This after the country recorded the highest number of deaths at 806 in a single 24 hour period.
KZN recorded 225 of those deaths. The province has 69 599 active cases.
The Western Cape leads with 8 642 deaths followed by Gauteng with 6 606 with KZN having the third number of COVID-19 deaths with a total of 5 732.
