Covid-19 positivity rate drops below 1% in SA

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has recorded the lowest coronavirus positivity rate since before the country moved into the third wave in the middle of 2021.
According to the latest stats, the rate at which people tested positive on Tuesday stood at 0.8%.
The NICD reported 169 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country's total laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 922 391.
Gauteng is in the lead - with only 37 new cases.
An additional 18 Covid-19 related deaths have been confirmed, with the total fatalities standing at 89 197.
When it comes to hospital admissions, a further 23 people were admitted to both private and public facilities for coronavirus related complications.
A total of 3780 people are currently receiving Covid-19 treatment at facilities across the country.
On Tuesday, 167 819 Covid-19 vaccines were administered.
