Covid-19 positivity rate continues to decline in SA

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has reported 116 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours leading up to Monday evening.
This brings the country’s total laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 924 072.
The latest increase represents a 0.7% positivity rate.
It remains on the lowest levels since the first cases of coronavirus was originally detected in the country in March 2020.
A further 20 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89 352.
Most of the new cases come from Gauteng – where 38 new infections were recorded.
There has been an increase of 16 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours.
A total of 3 740 people are currently admitted in both private and public health facilities.
On the vaccine front, 102 433 vaccines were administered on Monday.
