Six-hundred-and-eighty-five people have been arrested in eThekwini since Monday, for contravention of the lockdown regulations.

Transport and Community Safety MEC Bheki Ntuli says they were arrested for various transgressions including traffic offenses, mass gathering, and people perpetrating fake news.
"Some of them were found after a tip-off by some residents that they were selling non-essential goods as well as those that are orchestrating strikes taking an opportunity that is prevailing itself now," says Ntuli

Scores of motorists have been made to turn back at a roadblock at one of the busiest routes in Durban.
Officers have also been issuing fines for not abiding by the lockdown rules.
Metro police and the South African police service were on the R102, stopping cars on the incoming and outgoing lanes.
Cars were being turned around because people do not have the permit required to travel or do not have a proper excuse as to where they are going.
