Covid-19 deaths top 77 000

The number of Covid-related deaths have breached the 77 000 mark in South Africa.

Statistics released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) on Sunday evening, show that 272 more people have succumbed to the deadly virus in a 24-hour period.
This brings the country’s national Covid-19 fatalities to 77 141.
#COVID19 UPDATE: A total of 48,316 tests were conducted in the last 24 hrs, with 10,139 new cases, which represents an 21% positivity rate. The number of new coronavirus cases has further increased by 10 139 in just one day, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2 595 447 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. .
The country’s positivity rate remains at 21%.
