COVID-19 deaths increase further while SA waits for the vaccine to land

The number of
COVID-19 related deaths in South Africa continues to
increase, with 555 new fatalities recorded in the latest period.
Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize says in his latest report that KwaZulu-Natal recorded the highest number of new deaths, with 249 fatalities.
The Eastern Cape has recorded 150 deaths, followed by Gauteng at 70, the Western Cape at 45 and Mpumalanga at 21.
In the Free State, 10 more people have died while Limpopo has recorded 7 more fatalities and the Northern Cape 3 new deaths.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the country to 43 105.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 1 272 197, relating to a recovery rate of 88.3%.
