Courts designed to solve disputes - even within political parties: Mogoeng
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng says it's preferred that political parties address concerns within their structures prior to resorting to the courts to solve their problems.
Mogoeng and representatives from the Heads of Court met with the Justice and Correctional Services Portfolio Committee.
This year's increase in political court cases was discussed - with the Chief Justice saying this will not cause a constitutional crisis.
"We would prefer to have them deal with issues of concerns within their spheres of operation and resolving them without the need ever arising for them to approach courts. Imagine if the opposite where to obtain - it means people would then have to take the law into their own hands if they can't resolve their disputes instead of having them resolved in a legally permissible way," he said.
The leadership within the NPA - Shaun Abrahams and the State Capture report were not on the agenda.
