Rape-accused Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso and his co-accused are not off the hook.

They will have to stand trial on more than 30 charges.
The Gqeberha High Court on Tuesday dismissed an application by the defence to have the charges against them dropped after the trial started back in 2018.
But National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Luxolo Tyali explained that they would answer to fewer charges after more than half of the over 90 they were initially facing were dismissed.

"The charges that we are left with now are 32. All these charges are still inclusive of the rapes, sexual assaults and trafficking.
"The only difference in the cases that were withdrawn against them, these cases were mainly because the State didn't call witnesses to testify in support of these charges, and now the ball is in his court."
Omotoso, who ran a church in Durban, is accused of abusing girls and young women who stayed in a mansion he rented in Umhlanga.
