Court suspends Public Protector's remedial action against Gordhan
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan has been granted an interdict - suspending the Public Protector's remedial actions in the SARS Rogue Unit matter.
Gordhan approached the court to have the actions suspended pending a judicial review of Busisiwe Mkhewbane's report.
In the report released earlier this month - Mkwebane found that the minister violated the Constitution by allowing the unit to operate.
Gordhan was the commissioner at SARS at the time.
Mkhwebane had ordered the president to take disciplinary action against Gordhan within 30 days of her report.
She had also directed Parliament to probe his conduct through the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members' Interests.
The North Gauteng High Court today said the Public Protector's orders were vague, contradictory and nonsensical.
