Court dismisses Jacob Zuma, Thales' appeal

The Pietermaritzburg High Court has dismissed former president Jacob Zuma and French Arms Company, Thales' appeal to have their corruption case permanently stayed on Friday.

Zuma is facing one count of racketeering, two counts of corruption, one count of money laundering, and 12 counts of fraud related to payments he received in connection with the arms deal.
Judge Bhekisisa Mnguni told the court the appeal was dismissed with costs.

Earlier this year, the High Court dismissed their application with costs for a permanent stay of prosecution in the case involving corrupt payments Zuma allegedly received from the French arms company.
The corruption trial is likely to go ahead next year.
