Couple who got engaged in KFC identified

Big brands and celebrities have come on board to offer assistance to a couple that got engaged inside a KFC outlet.

A video emerged on social media showing a man proposing to his girlfriend in the fast food franchise.


The video has warmed many South African hearts, but others took a swipe at the proposal, with some calling South African men 'broke.'


The video was filmed by a bystander. KFC shared the video and asked Twitter users to help them trace the couple.

The company has since confirmed that the search is over: "South Africa, you guys are amazing. We’ve found the beautiful couple, and looks like we’re having a Streetwise Wedding. We’re meeting Bhut’ Hector and his lovely bride Nonhlanhla we’ll keep you posted."


Other companies and South African personalities have also pledged support for the couple, offering to cover some of their wedding expenses, and providing the pair with various products and services. 


Durban-born musician Zakes Bantwini offered to perform at the wedding for free. 


Tsogo Sun said: "Congratulations to this happy couple! We'd love to treat them to a 2-night stay, including breakfast at any Southern Sun hotel in South Africa. @KFCSA please DM us so that we can make the arrangements. Thank you."


Castle Lite SA said: "Count us in! We’re unlocking an Extra Cold honeymoon at the #RepublicOfExtraCold incl. flights and accommodation this summer."


Kulula said: "Hey mzansi's favourite couple. Your honeymoon is on us. #kululaholidays are giving you a holiday in Cape Town, incl flights and 5 nights accommodation."
