Former East Coast Radio jock, Phindi Gule-Burley and her husband Kevin have decided to run the entire KZN coast, 30 km a day, to raise money for Liv Village which takes care of orphaned and vulnerable children.

They began their 900km journey at Kosi Bay at the Mozambique border, incorporating a few detours to make up the kilometres.

Gule Burley says through the run, they are hoping to highlight the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.

"After learning that South Africa is now sitting at number 3 as a country with the highest statistics of obesity, I felt that it's something that all of us need to wake up to and teach children to live a healthy lifestyle, particularly mothers.

"This is because anything a mother embraces, chances are children and the rest of the family will follow," she said.

She says there's also a tourism angle to their adventure.

"We're moving from the Mozambican border all the way to Port Edward. That for me will show the world what KZN has to offer. We do not do justice to KZN, from the game reserves that we have, the beautiful weather, the ocean, the midlands - there's just so much," she said.

They will finish their run at Port Edward.
