Petrol price to decrease this December
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
It's good news for motorists this festive season, as the cost of fuel is set to come down this month.
All grades of petrol will cost 20 cents less per litre, while diesel will go down 32 cents per litre.
The cost of paraffin will also decrease by 28 cents per litre.
According to the Department of Energy, some of the contributing factors to the decrease are that the Rand strengthened slightly against the US Dollar on average, as well as the lowered costs of crude oil.
The department says there is a surplus of crude oil, and not enough demand to match it.
November's mid-month predictions had put the drop in the price of petrol at around 41 cents per litre, while diesel had been estimated to go down by around 38 cents per litre - with paraffin costing around 36 cents per litre less.
The Automobile Association says factors such as the country's political developments, and the outcomes of our credit rating by rating agencies -may have an influence on the cost of fuel.
