Cosatu takes to the streets in national shutdown

Members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) will hit the streets on Thursday during a planned national strike to protest the country's economic crisis.
Members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) will hit the streets on Thursday during a planned national strike to protest the country's economic crisis.
The trade union federation says it wants the reversal of budget cuts that have led to an unacceptable wage freeze in the public service sector.
In KwaZulu-Natal, members will start at Pietermaritzburg's Dale Park and in Dundee, crowds will deliver the memorandum to the provincial Department of Labour.
Provincial secretary Edwin Mkhize encouraged workers to down tools to join the legally protected strike, which also takes place of Global Day for decent work.
