Cosatu: No more e-Tags in KZN
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Cosatu's provincial secretary Edwin Mkhize says workers don't want to see anymore gates being constructed in the region.
"It means we are going to have many people suffering because in return they are the ones who have to pay the taxes," he said.
A group of about 100 protesters led by Mkhize demonstrated at the Mariannhilll Toll Plaza on the N3 near Pinetown yesterday. They're calling for the removal of the Shesha Lane that operates using e-Tags.

"Our main worry as Cosatu is that we cannot allow these Shesha Lanes to be introduced at toll gates because they are taking away jobs.
"One of the stand points of Sanral and the government is that through these toll gates they are introducing employment. Now the very same employment is becoming a victim of the Shesha Lanes," he said.
Mkhize says they plan on engaging with government on the issue, saying the lanes are taking jobs away from poor communities.
