Cosatu: Govt given until end of month to respond to demands
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) leadership in KwaZulu-Natal says it wants a response from government to its demands - by the end of the month.

"The issues, all of them are very urgent and they must be prioritised," says Cosatu's Edwin Mkhize.
Cosatu-affiliated unions and their members staged mass strike action across South Africa on Wednesday, with the demonstrations leading to major road closures in Durban.
Marchers submitted a memorandum of grievances to Labour and police officials in the CBD.

Mkhize says among other things; they want the country's troubled SOEs fixed, a probe into the allocation of funds from the COVID-19/TERS benefit and a better plan to keep healthcare workers safe.
Striking workers handed over a memorandum of demands. Premier Sihle Zikalala received it outside the provincial police headquarter
"If it were according to us, they would have been addressed yesterday. By the end of this month, we must have received our response."
