Cosatu cannot have it both ways, says analyst
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
An independent political analyst feels Cosatu is confusing itself and workers with threats of a mass protest against new tax laws.

Thabani Khumalo says it's time Cosatu decides if it wants to be part of the tripartite alliance or to fight for employees.
Khumalo says the tripartite alliance is not working as these organisations always disagrees.
He also questioned its independence as a trade union federation. Khumalo says many people believe there's a conflict of interest.
"I think it is challenged to decide whether it continues with this alliance or it goes back to the basics - doing what it was formed to do, that is to fight for the rights of the workers," he said.
President Jacob Zuma has signed new tax amendments into law forcing employees to preserve their pension benefits upon resignation.
