The trade union's national secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali addressed marchers gathered outside the Durban City Hall, where he urged government to speed up plans for integrated public transport.

Thousands of marchers across the country have taken to the streets today on International Decent Work Day.

Ntshalintshali has also urged Durban marchers to support the National Minimum Wage.

"There are negotiations that are going on. The ANC government, through President Zuma, have agreed that we must have a national minimum wage.

We feel that employers are dragging their feet. They're opposed to this National Minimum Wage. We must have it before the end of the year," he said.

Economic development MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu has accepted Cosatu's memorandum on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal legislature.
