organisation Cosas wants a group of matrics from Hillcrest High to face
criminal charges for using racial slurs.
The five pupils were suspended for seven days after snippets of a conversation on a WhatsApp group chat went public on social media last year.
Derogatory terms like the K-word and N-word were used.
But the group was allowed to come back to school after three days.
Other pupils are calling for their expulsion. saying management swept the incident under the carpet - which it denies.
Lwazi Nhlumayo, with Cosas, sat in on a meeting between the students and Education MEC, Mbali Frazer on Thursday.

"It saddens me that 29 years into democracy we are still speaking the language of racism, inequality and furthermore sexual abuse."
So as Cosas we've taken a posture that any racism and any racists we are going to be opening a criminal case and we are going to ensure that every racist and everyone who’s said any derogatory word towards anyone is taken care of by the criminal justice system."
Meanwhile, Frazer's opened a week-long inquiry into allegations of racism at the school.
