Corruption must be weeded out from traffic law enforcement: NPO
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
The Justice Project South Africa has called for traffic law enforcement in the country to be practised properly - and free of corruption.
The group's Howard Dembovsky made the comments following the release of the festive season road accidents statistics this week.

A staggering 1714 people lost their lives on the country's roads over the recent holidays - which was a 5% increase in deaths from the previous year.
Dembovsky believes the situation won't change - unless law enforcement step up patrols throughout the year.
"Desperate times call for level heads and proper implementation of proper plans. If we do not completely transform the way in which traffic law enforcement is practiced and we don't eradicate corruption - the problem is we will see upwardly spiraling road deaths," he said.
