Coronavirus: President Ramaphosa to address nation today
The nation will hear from the President today on whether or not there'll be any further measures taken to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Cyril Ramaphosa was locked in a number of meetings yesterday at the Union Buildings.
He first met with the leaders of several political parties and business to hear their views on the pandemic.
Ramaphosa then sat with the National Command Council well into the night.
Minister in the Presidency, Jackson Mthembu told reporters last night that many factors, such as the socio-economic impact of the pandemic needed to be taken into consideration before any decisions are made.

With the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 274, there have been calls by some for more drastic measures such as a lock down to avoid runaway infections.
Mthembu says the National Command Council is dealing with very weighty matters which is a concern to many South Africans.
"So we don't want to take shortcuts and when the President speaks to the nation, he would have covered all the bases. These discussions would have armed him to deal with all these issues that South Africans are worried about," he said.
