Coronation residents take to street over prolonged power outage
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Residents of Coronation in northern KwaZulu-Natal have accused municipal officials of not taking their service delivery concerns seriously.

They say they have been without power for four days.
They took out their frustrations on the R69 between Vryheid and Lowsburg on Tuesday morning, blockading the road.

Resident Lindiwe Masondo says they have had to throw food out.
"We can’t even charge our phones the only reason you are able to get hold of me is because my son took my phone with him to town for a soccer match and he charged it. We just got paid we have had to dispose some of the food because the refrigerators are not working. Other areas like Hlobane, Cliffdale and Stanela have power. It’s only us, they telling us lies and continue to play tactics with us."
A municipal official addressed the protesting residents, telling them cable theft was to blame for the outage.
He promised they are working around the clock to restore electricity.
Public order police are keeping an eye on the situation on the R69.
