KZN police have
nabbed five suspects thought to be behind a spate of cell phone store robberies
and other serious crimes in the province.
The men were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation on the N3 north after Cato Ridge on Sunday.
Officers foiled a planned robbery in Pietermaritzburg. KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the two vehicles that were being driven by the suspects had been hijacked in Brighton Beach and Umkomaas.
The suspects were found in possession of four pistols with
44 rounds of ammunition. Following an initial investigation, it was established
that the suspects may be linked to a number of cases such as murder,
carjacking, kidnapping and business robberies.
