Cop injured during cash-in-transit heist in Durban CBD

A police officer's been rushed to hospital after being shot during an apparent cash-in-transit robbery in central Durban.

The shooting happened near the Workshop Shopping Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Rescue Care's, Kyle Van Reenen says the officer is in a serious condition.

"Advanced Life Support Emergency Care Practitioners worked to stabilise the man whilst he was rushed to a nearby hospital for further immediate definitive care.
"Reports from the scene indicate the police member took fire from a number of armed suspects during an attempted cash in transit robbery. The South African Police Services will be investigating the matter further."
