Weather experts say residents should brace for heavy showers this evening as the heatwave loosens its grip on parts of the country.
The SA Weather Service says thunderstorms in KZN, with cooler temperatures, are likely to continue until tomorrow.
Forecaster, Wisani Maluleka say they will be accompanied by strong winds.
"We do expect thunderstorms in most of the areas, especially the KZN side, associated with cold front conditions. Currently, there are severe thunderstorms in KZN including Drakensberg, Ladysmith and Newcastle," he says.
