A 30-year-old man from the notorious Glebelands Hostel, south of Durban, has been found guilty on six counts levelled against him.
These include four counts of murder, possession of prohibited firearm and possession of ammunition. Hostel hitman Senzo Sihle Cele appeared at the Pietermaritzburg High Court this week.
KZN SAPS's Thembeka Mbhele says the accused was arrested after four people were shot and killed at Glebelands Hostel and KwaMnyandu Taxi Rank three years ago.
She says Cele will be sentenced on Tuesday in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
"Charges of murder were opened for investigation by Umlazi SAPS where after the docket was transferred to the Durban Organised Crime Unit for further investigations", Mbhele said.
"The investigation led to the arrest of the accused and during his arrest in 2018 he was found in possession of a pistol with 35 rounds of ammunition and was convicted after the court heard how he killed four people at Umlazi", she said.
