The department has been commenting after three people, including a pregnant woman, were killed after a wall collapsed onto their home in KwaMashu's L Section - north of Durban on Friday night.

MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube has sent her condolences to the Hadebe and Mpanza families.

Officials have identified the victims as Ndumiso Hadebe, Ntoko Mpanza and 3-year-old Anathi Mpanza.

Dube-Ncube says the department visited their families yesterday.

“"If you can avoid driving, please postpone your trip and please do not cross rivers and streams. Our disaster management teams are on the ground trying to attend to all emergencies," she said.

There is a 60% chance of showers across the province later.
