Consumer council, govt in talks about moving Mooi River Toll Plaza
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The Consumer Goods Council says it's locked in discussions with government on possibly moving the Mooi River Toll Plaza to a safer spot on the N3.
It says both the Mooi River and Tugela tollgates have become dangerous for trucks transporting goods for major retailers and manufacturers.
Community protests and the looting of broken-down trucks are two of the main problems on the route.
The council's Abraham Nelson says there are various factors to consider.

"They are talking to all the relevant government departments and everybody. Because you must remember it affects a community, they community around the Toll Gate is community. We need to take them into account as well.
"It is not juts about the retailer or the manufacturer, its about about the community as well. How is moving the Tollgate going to affect that community? We have to be realistic, I understand them taking their time to work through all the facts."
