Inspectors from the National Consumer Commission are on the ground monitoring the recall of canned products belonging to the KOO and Hugo brands.
Goods company Tiger Brands on Monday recalled 26 types of canned food items due to packaging defects.
South Africans have been asked to take cans produced between the 1st of May 2019 and May the 5th this year back to the shop for a refund.

The company's concerned about a possible defective side seam weld that could cause the can to leak.
The commission's Phetho Ntaba said: "Check your pantry, the manufacturing dates, barcodes as well as the expiry dates and if these match the products being recalled ensure that you do not consume.
"Return them to any retail store for a full refund. The commission believes that retailers will cooperate with this recall and refund consumers."
