ConCourt failed to meet annual target: Zondo

Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has released the judiciary’s annual report for 2020/21.
The report had detailed targets of finalised matters and the actual performance of various courts.
The Constitutional Court did not meet its target of 70% of finalised matters it had hoped to achieve.
"It had 445 matters and finalised 273 of those that was a 61 percent performance. Although it fell short of its target, there was 10% increase in its caseload,” Zondo said on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court of Appeal had set for itself a target of 80 percent of finalised cases matters during the period under review.
"It has a total of 241 matters and it finalised 196 of those. That was an achievement of 81%. In regard to its applications or petitions, it finalised 99%. It had one percent over achievement."
Divisions of the high court had a target of 75% finalised criminal matters and achieved 85%.
"The various divisions of the high court had a total of 11 413 criminal cases and they finalised 9 749 of those cases."
