ConCourt dismisses ballot appeal by three new parties

Three political parties have failed in their bid to be included on ballot papers for the upcoming elections

The African Congress for Transformation, mining union Amcu's Labour Party and the Afrikan Alliance of Social Democrats dragged the Electoral Commission to court.

They accused the IEC of unfairly excluding them after they failed to meet the commission's deadline to submit their candidate lists.
The group asked the Constitutional Court to re-open the submission window and postpone the elections.
The court handed down its ruling on Friday morning, dismissing the application.
