Concerns raised over teacher shortage at Mariannridge school
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
A KZN Education task team is heading to a school in Mariannridge, west of Durban, after complaints that there's not enough teachers there.
The department's Muzi Mahlambi says what's more worrying is that they're being told that some classes for pupils in Grades 8 to 12 - haven't yet started at Mariannridge Senior Secondary.
The first term kicked off more than three weeks ago.
He says they've scheduled a meeting with the school's management.
"Surely - somebody has dropped the ball in terms of the responsibility either the class teacher, the subject teacher or the principal of the school together with his management team - to have not observed that there are classes that have not been taught. We are going to clarify the recovery strategy for the lost time," Mahlambi said.
