Con Court hears application to find Zuma in contempt of court
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The Constitution Court is hearing an application by the State Capture Commission that wants a contempt of court penalty imposed on Jacob Zuma.
In his opening remarks, counsel for the Zondo Commission Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi highlighted the former president's refusal to comply with the Court's January order to testify before the Commission.
"As we speak today Zuma has not complied with that order. He has not attended the commission and he has not submitted the affidavit as required."
The Commission's seeking a two-year prison sentence for the former president.
Ngcukaitobi explains why it's an urgent matter.

"When we came before the constitution court in December 2020, after a summons has neem issued for Mr Zuma, the target of his belligerence was Justice Zondo in his capacity as chair of the commission.
"That was of course after Zondo ruled against Zuma in the recusal application. Today, after the constitutional court granted judgement against Zuma, the court itself has become a target of Zuma's angry, threatening and quite frankly provocative tirades."
Zuma has long accused Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo of bias and demanded that he recuse himself.
