Just last week, police made a breakthrough and arrested Ntinga's wife Ntombizodwa and an alleged hitman.

They made their first appearance in the KwaMbonambi Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

It's understood two gunmen barged into Ntinga's KwaMbonambi home on Tuesday night.

They kidnapped Ntinga and his colleague who was with them in the house.

The Hawks members, together with the King Cetshwayo Task Team, made another arrest.

This took the number of arrested people to three.

“We are still looking for another one, the one that was arrested on Friday will appear tomorrow in the same court KwaMbonambi facing the charge of possession of ammunition. Then he will reappear in the same court on Tuesday, joining the other two suspects," said Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo.

Mhlongo said Ntinga's colleague, who was a clerk, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

"We can confirm the sad news that the administration clerk that was in hospital died last night. We received the news this morning. He was a family friend that was with the Warrant Officer Nkosinathi Ntinga during the date of the incident. He happened to be visiting that family on that day."

Authorities are now investigating a double murder, armed robbery and kidnapping.
