COGTA KZN: Response teams on standby for weather threats
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KZN says tactical response teams remain on standby as the threat of extreme weather in the province extends into the weekend.
COGTA is urging communities to be careful and follow any instructions given by authorities and weather related warnings. This after two family members from Mooi-Mpofana in the Midlands died after being struck by lightning on Thursday.
COGTA spokesperson Lennox Mabaso says more downpour is expected.
"The weather service is predicting more rainfall and this may lead to localised flooding so we urge people to be extra cautious", he said.
"All our disaster response teams have been placed on full alert by the COGTA MEC but we ask for people exercise safety first", Mabaso said.
