Cogta fire: R17-million in damages reported
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KZN Co-operate Governance and Traditional Affairs Department says its employees have been left in shock after one of their offices was burned to the ground early this morning during a protest in Mayville.

The department says this is the second attack this week on the same office.
Authorities say the office was set alight on Tuesday - apparently with a petrol bomb - but employees managed to quickly douse the flames.
The department says it believes the incidents are related to the Cato Crest land invasions.
Spokesperson, Lennox Mabaso says a preliminary assessment has revealed damages to the tune of R17-million.
"We were shocked to wake up today and see the entire building up in flames. It's a building that was also housing offices for traditional leaders and staff. We condemn this barbaric act and call on law enforcement agencies to take drastic action to apprehend the criminals," Mabaso said.

He says there's reward for information.
"The department together with police have set aside a reward of about R100 000 to anyone who can come forward with information that will ensure that those that are behind this are arrested."
