Last month, Inkosi Siphamandla Khumalo and his wife were ambushed and killed on the R34 in northern KZN.

Provincial Traditional House Chair Inkosi Sifiso Shinga says they’ve been living in fear following the murder of the Khumalos.

"We are deeply concerned about what happened to Inkosi Khumalo two weeks ago, and it was not the first time because we have already lost about 12 traditional leaders, Amakhosi since 2019 and about 42 Izinduna.

"We are very much worried that  we don't know who's going to follow now because there is also nothing happening on the Government side to protect Amakhosi and the other traditional leaders."
