Classes suspended, police on scene at Durban school
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Teaching has been suspended for the day at George Campbell School of Technology in Durban.
This after some pupils protested outside the school earlier.
They claim some teachers have been referring to them as monkeys and using other derogatory terms.
A large police contingent was called to the school after protesting pupils removed other learners and teachers from their classrooms.

Some pupils ran out in a panic while others gathered in the school hall. Pupils have explained to police why they are unhappy while others have been chanting at the side of the road.
Durban Central police spokesperson, Khephu Ndlovu says there's been no damage to school property.
Ndlovu says police will continue monitoring the school premises. The Department of Education sent officials to the school yesterday.
UPDATE: Protesting learners have dispersed from outside the front gate of the school.
