Classes expected to resume at DUT
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Students at the Durban University of Technology are today expected to return to lectures, following three weeks of disruptions.
They took to the streets at the beginning of the month, to protest about various issues - including financial aid, accommodation and transport - and tensions heightened after third year Business Administration student Mlungisi Madonsela was shot and killed in a scuffle with campus security.
The academic programme was expected to resume last week but another bout of unrest stalled management's plans.
DUT Vice Chancellor, Thandwa Mthembu says management and student leaders are finally on the same page now, though. He says he's confident the academic programme will resume without a hitch.
