Chief Justice Mogoeng praises SA's judicial system
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng says the fact that politicians and judges trust the country's courts to solve their disputes shows that our justice system is effective and fully functional.
Mogoeng made the comment at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort, on the north coast, where an executive meeting for the Conference of the Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa took place yesterday.
Mogoeng was asked about the ANC in KZN's provincial executive committee's decision to appeal court rulings that set aside their appointments.
"Remember, our people were, for many years, bottled up. They lost confidence in the justice missionary. Now that we are in a Constitutional democracy - crafted by all of them together - they have confidence in the court system. We ought to be celebrating as the leadership of the judiciary that we have done our bit," he says.

Mogoeng says the international community looks to our judiciary for guidance.
"African countries and countries around the world - in Asia, the Pacific, Europe and the Americas - look up to South Africa for guidance in a wide range of areas," he says.
