Chicken or beef out of the question on South African flights
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
If you've booked a ticket for a domestic flight, do not expect to be asked whether you want chicken or beef anytime soon.
You're no longer allowed to have a meal or a snack with the exception of bottled water when flying anywhere in South Africa.
The Transport Department's gazetted new information on food on flights.
It says catering on international flights will be permitted.
Fly-Saf-Air's Kirby Gordon says they support the decision.

"The reality is that we feel it's the most responsible thing to do at this stage. Flying has proven to be very safe but all of those studies are based on the idea that people wear their masks throughout," says Gordon.
He says since starting, they haven't offered catering onboard the flights, "It would've been wonderful to be able to count on that revenue stream during a very tricky time like this but when making this decision we just felt that it wasn't the right thing to do."
