Cheryl Zondi prepares to return to the dock
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
State witness, Cheryl Zondi says the NPA has not yet informed her how the recusal of Judge Mandela Makaula from the Timothy Omotoso trial will affect her testimony.
Last year, Zondi testified about the alleged sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of the Durban-based pastor.
She told the Port Elizabeth High Court that young women were recruited for Omotoso and kept inside a mansion in Umhlanga.
Judge Makaula formally recused himself from presiding over the trial after the defence submitted an application arguing he'd been biased.
Zondi spoke to the media earlier - saying she'll probably be back in the witness box.
"I am likely going to have to start testifying all over again from scratch as if nothing happened last year - as if I had to spend time away from my family to keep myself alive and to keep them alive. As if I haven't lost enough weight and sleep from all the stress that I've endured from this process, and as if all that I've been through means nothing."
Omotoso's trial is expected to start afresh on the 30th of July with a new judge presiding over the matter.
