Chatsworth teen faces murder charges after attack on elderly man

A teenager is appearing in the Chatsworth Magistrate's Court following the murder of an elderly man in Welbedacht.
The 18-year-old is accused of stabbing a 65-year-old man who had been on his way to a temple yesterday morning.
A passing motorist witnessed the incident and tried to help the victim.
Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the suspect then fled into a nearby settlement.

Mbhele says members of the community made sure he didn't get away.
"Police with the community managed to apprehend the suspect. The victim was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. A case of murder is being investigated by Chatsworth police," Mbhele said.
